Seattle’s CHANNEL SURFER Announces NEW ALBUM
April 1, 2013[wp_ad_camp_2]
Seattle native, Chris Herrera aka CHANNEL SURFER will be releasing a new full-length artist album. With the working title “Critical Moments”, Channel promises a Trance tour de force including Tech, Vocal, Progressive and even Psy.
We can only speculate which of the top-tier labels he works with will put this out. Let us not forget, Chris’s music has appeared on Armin’s ‘Armada”, Oakenfold’s “Perfecto”, Christopher Lawrence’s “Pharmacy”. and of course his own label “Televisionary”.
Discover Records seems to be where he is happiest these days with them releasing everything from his driving 140 cuts, to his deep Progressive. Discover has long been known to jump start the global careers of many of Trance’s finest including John O’Callaghan, Sean Tyas, John Askew, Thomas Datt, Ben Gold, Bissen and more.
His relationship with the label began when John Askew (then A&R) signed “Come Out Swinging”, a tough Techer sent to him by Sean Tyas. “Swinging” would go on to top the Trance charts making it to an outstanding #5, and would become one the best selling tracks of the year.
Another hit followed when Michael Lee (aka Magnus) took on a remix of his track “Life: The Sequel”. “Sequel” would be featured on Discover’s “Global Trance USA” compilation making Channel and Magnus the only two Northwestern producers on the comp.
Channel’s 2009 album, “On the Big Screen” was well received by critics but it’s indie-electro feel would not translate into big sales. “Big Screen was a fun record to do, but I’ve grown so much since then.”, he observes. “Big Screen” had a remix album follow and both are still available on Beatport and iTunes.
When asked about to the desicion to do another album he had this to say, “I had written about 16 new singles to release throughout the year and I realized, wow, I’ve got an album forming here! Instead of putting them out one by one I decided to hold off and turn them into a body of work.”
Two clips from the forthcoming album have already been released on his SoundCloud. 3 singles will be released prior the album with the remaining singles to come after the full release. Russian vocalist, Krista Kazakova, will also appear on two songs. Release is scheduled for Summer 2013.
